A Canadian by birth, Ellen McNally quit her full time job in Montreal and came to Hong Kong 20 years ago with her husband. Her two children, now young adults, were raised in Hong Kong. All four love this city and consider it their home.

Because the shopping in Hong Kong and Shenzhen was so unlike anything she had every seen anywhere else, Ellen began writing and publishing shopping guides. Her first edition of the book, 'Shop in Shenzhen - An Insider's Guide' was released at the end of 2002. She is now working the 5th edition of that publication.

In 2006, she released her first edition of the book, Shop in Hong Kong - An Insider's Guide. In August 2008, right after the Beijing Olympics, she released the second edition. In it, she focuses on fashion and lifestyle shopping for men, women and children in Hong Kong.
